SCHOOL SITE COUNCIL

Advancement Via Individual Determination

The School Site Council (SSC) serves a vital role at College School District by overseeing the state and federal categorical programs and their budgets. This committee, comprised of community members and school faculty and staff, monitors and revises the School Improvement Plan annually. Copies of the School Improvement Plan are available in the District Office. The SSC acts as an advisory council for all school programs and over the expenditure of any funding that requires parent input. Representatives are elected by their respective groups to serve on the SSC. For more information, please contact   Maurene Donner, Principal/Superintendent, at 686-7310.

SERVICE LEARNING PROGRAM

The Service Learning Committee’s purpose is to implement service learning activities for our K-8 program.

Service Learning provides an opportunity for our Bobcats to participate in not only an academic program, but it allows them an opportunity to reach out to their neighbors, community and the world around them with the gift of service. Service Learning truly gives legs to what our kids learn in the classroom.

Classroom projects become real when our students live them out in their everyday lives. This is the purpose of the District’s Service Learning Program.

Our school Superintendent chairs the Service Learning Committee which includes representatives from our Board, faculty and staff. Our Community Ambassador Program is a coordinated vocational learning in the Santa Ynez community. Seventh and Eighth Grade students visit local business people and merchants as ambassadors of our school to learn about potential careers or future potential jobs in the Santa Ynez Valley community. The student ambassadors also participate in an annual school career day provided by SBCEO Partners in Education.
